Why should educators include puzzles to support learning? Puzzles provide for active brain engagement, opportunities to develop collaboration and cooperation in the classroom, and a fun way to introduce concepts and vocabulary and reinforce learning. This ate word family and rhyming words word search puzzle is an example of these ideas. To complete the puzzle students must solve for clues before finding the words hidden in the grid. This requires prior knowledge of the words and experience with them, thereby making this puzzle a reinforcement exercise. When students work as part of a team it enhances collaboration and cooperation. This word search puzzle is a great assessment tool because students are drawing upon knowledge from multiple areas in order to solve the clues.
