Engaging teacher resources to support Black History Month! Free, fun, and interactive BHM word maze puzzle supports student learning in all classrooms! Puzzle activates problem solving strategies by requiring students to first locate 20 word clues hidden in a word search grid and then trace each letter path to discover the maze created within in the grid. Letter paths do NOT cross. Some words included in the puzzle: judge, bond, together, heroine, support. Letter paths DO NOT cross.

Benefits of puzzles in the classrooms:
-develop and support problem solving strategies, which transfer to other curricular areas
-engage critical thinking skills because kids need to think about the choices they make to solve the puzzle
-improve working memory skills as kids review the word list and then work to locate the words hidden in the grid
-build vocabulary and support visual acuity
-support fine motor skills development and visual acuity

To complete the printable version:
-download the puzzle to print
-review the list of words in the word bank
-locate the start bubble, which is the first letter of one of the words in the list
-trace the letter paths for each word with no gaps between words

To complete the Google Slides™ version:
-use the link to copy the file to the computer
-review the list of words

-use the line tool (or the shapes tool with color set to transparent) to trace the letter paths for each word; OR use the scribble tool to trace the letter paths with no spaces between the end of one word and the start of another word
