Books of the Bible-Word Maze-07

Looking for educator lesson plan resources to support learning about the Bible? This word maze puzzle is a word search puzzle that includes 19 Bible books, hidden in the grid. The list of Bible books are connected to one another through their letter paths. When the letter paths are connected, they create a maze. Hence the name, word maze puzzle. The added challenge of scrambled letter clues increases the complexity of this puzzle and is a great addition to differentiated classrooms.

Use these steps to solve this word maze:
1. first, unscramble the letters to reveal the list of words hidden in the grid
2. next, find the circled letter, which is the starting point for the first path line
3. then, trace the letter path of the hidden word (path lines can travel up, down, forwards, backwards)
4. as the letter path of this word is found, locate the starting letter of the next word and continue tracing its path line
5. finally, repeat steps 3 and 4 until letter paths for the 19 words are complete (remember path lines go up/down, forwards/backwards directions and the path lines do NOT cross)
6. track progress by drawing a line through each word clue

Here are a few ideas for using puzzles in the classroom:
1. use puzzles to introduce a Bible unit
2. put the words in reverse alphabetical order
3. have students create their own word search puzzles to share with friends and solve
4. organize the list of words using a variety of criteria (e.g. person/place/thing)
