Chemistry Vocab Wordangle #05

Engage critical thinking skills for students in grades 9-12 with this chemistry vocabulary word angle puzzle. Brain teaser also activates problem solving skills. The list of 22 words is related to the periodic table. Word search puzzles with a right angled twist are called wordangle puzzles, with most letter paths having one right hand turn.

Here are some problem solving strategies:
1. review the complete list of words: engages the brain
2. try locating some of the longer words first, since their letter paths will take up more squares: go from most number of letters to fewest number of letters in the word
3. remember that letter paths travel up, down, forwards and backwards, but not diagonally: intersection points will be at right angles to each other
4. circle, or trace the letter paths as hidden words are found: recording the information
5. track progress by checking off the words as they are located in the grid: process of elimination
6. work with a peer to help solve the puzzle: students learn from each other
