Looking for challenging teacher resources for the periodic table? Table of elements wordangle puzzle includes list of 20 scrambled word clues, many of which have letter paths that include one right hand turn! Hence the name, wordangle puzzle!

Problem solving strategies might include:
-unscramble the letters to reveal the hidden words
-record the correct spelling
-review the updated list of words prior to solving the puzzle
-use prior knowledge about wordangle puzzles: word paths travel forwards, backwards, horizontally, vertically, but not diagonally; some word paths do cross
-use letter hints to help solve the puzzle
-trace word paths
-track progress by checking off the words
-work with a peer to solve the puzzle

Lesson plan resource ideas:
1. encourage students to CREATE their own word search puzzles to exchange with peers using blank word search grids [link to grids: blank word searches]
2. IDENTIFY which elements in the list have stable/unstable isotopes: identify each of the isotopes and characteristics of each
3. ORGANIZE the list of elements by a) period, b) group: WHY are they grouped this way?
4. use list of words as research prompts (e.g. details about its discovery, stable vs unstable elements, which elements can be combined to create new compounds?)
5. combine the elements from the list, where possible, to create new compounds (e.g. Hydrogen + Oxygen = H20)
