Periodic Table Scrambled #10

Are you looking for academic chemistry resources for the periodic table? This table of elements wordangle puzzle, has a list of 20 scrambled word clues. Puzzle supports and complements ongoing programming. Many/most letter paths include one right hand turn!

Solve the puzzle:
1. unscramble the letters to reveal the hidden words; record correct spelling
2. locate the words hidden in the grid
3. remember word paths travel forwards, backwards, horizontally, vertically, but not diagonally and most letter paths cross
4. trace, or circle, the letter paths
5. track progress by checking off the words

Lesson plan activity ideas:
1. students CREATE unique word search puzzles using the list of word clues and blank word search grids found here: blank word search grid templates
2. IDENTIFY different elements that are: toxic/non-toxic, stable/unstable (remember to include elements' isotopes), natural element vs laboratory discovered, ancient elements vs modern elements
3. ORGANIZE the list of elements by: a)stability/instability of isotopes, b)toxicity levels, c)atomic number/weight/mass, d)period, e)group, f)ancient/modern
4. use the list of words as research prompts (e.g. who discovered what elements? how were elements discovered? details about elements, and related isotope/s; stable vs unstable elements; which elements can be combined to create new compounds?)
5. see how many compounds can be created by combining elements from the list (e.g. Carbon + Oxygen = CO2)

Benefits of using puzzles:
1. supports brain health
2. improves memory
3. supports visual acuity
4. activates problem solving strategies and critical thinking skills
