Right Angle Letter Paths

Are you a teacher looking for unique and challenging lesson plan activities and resources for St. Patrick's Day? This St. Patrick's Day word search puzzle has 3 twists to its solution: 1) a scrambled letters twist; 2) most hidden words have a right angled turn in their letter paths; and 3) some of the word clues have more than one word in them AND the scrambled letters do not always represent the number of letters in each word.

Solve the wordangle puzzle:
-rearrange the letters
-remember to record the correct spelling for each, as it helps to solve the puzzle more quickly
-locate each word clue in the grid
-trace the letter paths, or draw a circle around the hidden words
-remember that most words have a right hand turn in their letter paths

Other lesson plan ideas:
l. have students arrange the scrambled word clues alphabetically
2. have kids team up and see who can be the first to solve the puzzle
3. use the list of word clues in literacy centers as writing prompts for journal entries, report writing, narratives, descriptive writing, explanatory writing (e.g. how the leprechaun got its name)
