Looking for teacher resource and ideas for musical instruments? This music cryptolist activates problem solving strategies as students work to decipher the alphabet code used to encrypt the list of instruments.
To solve the puzzle use the letter hint and substitute the letter |C| with the letter |B|. Next, using knowledge of music instruments, letter patterns and number patterns, decode the letters. Record the letter substitutions in the table at the top of the puzzle. As letters are decoded, change out the letters in the list for the real letters. Use letter pattern knowledge to further decrypt the word.
Here are some additional ideas for using this puzzle:
l. Have students work with others. Why? This helps foster cooperative and collaborative classroom.
2. Once the words are decoded, use each word in sentence. Why? fine motor skill development; consolidate sentence structure base.
