Looking for engaging teacher resources to support Black History Month? Free, fun, and interactive BHM word maze puzzle supports student learning in the classroom! Puzzle activates problem solving strategies by requiring students to first locate 20 word clues hidden in a word search grid. Students trace each letter path to discover the maze created within in the grid. Letter paths do NOT cross.
Here are some words included in the puzzle: judge, bond, together, heroine, support
Here is how to solve the puzzle:
1. first, locate start bubble (circled letter locates the 1st letter of the 1st hidden word)
2. then, trace letter path to spell the word (letters travel forwards, backwards, vertically and horizontally, but not diagonally)
3. next, at the end of the word locate the first letter of the next word and trace its letter path
4. repeat steps 2-3 until 20 word clues are found and the maze is complete
Remember: as a problem solving strategy, cross out word clues as there letter paths are drawn
