Here is a scrambled letters wordangle puzzle, similar to a word search, that includes a 19 space words hidden in the grid. Most word paths include a right angled turn and some paths might cross. Choice board activity ideas, below, complement programming and provide extension like activities which make learning more fun. Solve the puzzle
- rearrange the letters to reveal the words hidden in the grid and then print the correct spelling for ease of reference
- review the list of correctly spelled words
- locate the circled letter for each word hidden in the grid
- trace the letter paths, remembering to watch for the right hand turn in most paths
- some word paths may cross
- check off words as they are located
Choice board activities:
l. SPARK student curiosity by encouraging kids to ask WHAT IF questions. For example: What if planets did not orbit the earth? Then what? Think of what might happen and explain your thinking.
2. STIMULATE creativity by engaging kids' imaginations: get kids to create a treasure map using some of the space words in the list (e.g. orbit, Mars, galaxy)
3. FOSTER innovation by getting kids to construct a 3D model of their activity #2. Remember to include notes on planning, or pictures (stages of construction), materials used (?and why), problems and how they were solved, final product, reflections)
